I can remember several years ago when my daughter and I were browsing through all of the new CDs at “Hear Music.” It was our all time favorite record store, back in the day when record stores still existed. My young daughter had just started learning the Bruch Violin Concerto no. 1 in G minor Coincidentally, we had discovered a brand new recording of this concerto at “Hear Music” that was performed by a Russian violinist named Maxim Vengerov. At first listen, we were blown away! I thought, “what a breath of fresh air to classical music.”
Nearly twenty years later, I have yet to discover another musician that can match his brilliant performance in this recording of the Bruch Concerto. Maxim Vengerov is known today as one of the top classical music “superstars” of the 21st Century.
